Stack the incentives

Rebates and net metering do the heavy lifting

1:1 credit

Net metering pays you back

As of July 2026, most provincial utilities credit surplus daytime production to your account at the full retail rate, so summer overproduction offsets winter draw. Credit terms, expiry dates and buy/sell rates vary by utility and are under review in some provinces, so we confirm your utility's current terms and size the system to your annual usage.

up to $5,000

Provincial solar rebates

As of July 2026, Ontario's Home Renovation Savings Program offers up to $5,000 toward solar and stacks with its storage incentive. Programs differ by province and open and close on short notice, so we confirm what you actually qualify for before quoting.

Solar panel questions

Cost, payback, warranty, net metering and winter performance.

How long does installation take?
Most residential solar installations are completed in 1-3 days. However, the entire process from consultation to final activation typically takes 2 – 6 months including permits and approvals.
Are there rebates and incentives available?
Canadian homeowners often get access to special renewable energy incentives like rebates, grants, and low-or-no interest loans for solar panels, heat pumps, battery storage, etc.  While specific programs come and go, our team is here to help you navigate which federal, provincial, and municipal incentives are available to you, based on your region.
Will solar panels work in Canadian winters?
Yes – solar panels are highly effective in Canadian climates. Surprisingly, solar panels perform better in colder weather.  Panels heat up while operating, causing light snow to melt — while heavier snowfall will typically slide off due to the angle the panels are installed at, combined with their slippery glass texture.  While snow coverage does impact solar panel production in the winter, the days are shorter to begin with – the majority of your annual energy production will be produced during the longer days of summer.  Excess energy captured during the summer gets automatically converted into credits on your energy bill via your utility provider’s solar net-metering program.  These excess energy credits get stored on your bill for the winter time when your solar power production is typically lower.
What happens during a power outage?
Standard grid-tied solar systems are all equipped with mandatory rapid shut down by code, which force the system to turn off during grid outages. Linesmen cannot work safely to repair power outages if homeowners are pumping live voltage to the grid unaccounted for. To maintain power during outages, you’ll need to add a battery storage system like Tesla Powerwall or SolarEdge battery bank.  When the grid turns off your battery system will disconnect your home from the grid until the power returns, and operate on an “island” so that it is safe to continue producing power.  While the grid is off, your solar panels will continue to charge your battery, ensuring that you have power until the grid comes back on.  While the grid is down be careful to conserve your battery energy so that you do not drain it faster than your solar panels can charge it.
How much can I save on my electricity bill?
The energy bill reduction you experience depends entirely on how much energy you use, and how much energy your system is capable of producing.  Our team will review your energy consumption data and match the size of your system appropriately to your home energy usage.  Most homeowners are surprised to find out that a right-sized solar installation can reduce even 100% of your electricity needs.  With solar net-metering, excess energy production gets credited to your electricity bill to reduce your future bills. Most utilities bill for delivery and transmission charges based on how many kWh of electricity you consume — so if by reducing your electricity consumption you will also reduce your delivery fees at the same time.
What maintenance is required?
Solar panel installations are designed to be set-and-forget like every other part of your home electricity infrastructure. When installed properly, solar panels do not typically require maintenance.  Rain will naturally clean them, the main thing to watch out for is removing any leaves that build up if you have trees nearby. Parts are all warrantied for 25-years, and we offer a protection plan designed to protect you in the event that any electronics fail.
How do solar panels work?
Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity using photovoltaic cells. When daylight hits the panels they generate direct current (DC) power, and an inverter converts it into the alternating current (AC) your home runs on. Any electricity you do not use flows back to the grid through net metering, earning credits that offset the power you draw at night or on cloudy days.
How long do solar panels last?
Quality solar panels last 25 to 30 years or more, and our installations come with a 25-year warranty. Output declines very gradually, typically less than half a percent per year, so a system installed today still produces around 85 to 90% of its original output after 25 years. The inverter is usually the only component that needs replacing once during that lifespan.
How much do solar panels cost?
Cost depends on system size. In Canada a 5 kW system starts around $19,000, a 10 kW system runs roughly $27,000 to $29,000, and a 15 kW system reaches about $39,000 before tax. With 0% financing available, many homeowners pay less per month than the electricity bill they replace. Get a free quote for an exact price based on your roof and usage.
Are solar panels worth it?
For most Canadian homeowners, yes. With electricity rates rising and net metering letting you bank credits for the power you export, a typical system pays for itself in about 8 to 15 years depending on your province rates and net metering rules, then produces nearly free power for the rest of its 25+ year life. Provinces with higher rates and 1:1 net metering see the fastest payback. We give you an honest payback estimate for your specific address before you commit.
