Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about what the workmanship warranty covers and how to make a claim.
How long does the workmanship warranty last?
The Limited Workmanship Warranty runs for 1 year.
It is automatically activated on the date your solar installation is inspected and approved by the designated electrical safety authority.
What does the workmanship warranty cover?
It covers the structural integrity and electrical safety of the installation — securing the racking to the roof, proper torque of screws and clamps, weatherproofing all roof penetrations, properly secured critter guard, grounding, rapid shutdown, a working disconnect, secure connections, acceptable wire sizing and cable management.
It also covers fixing or reimbursing property damage caused by the installation.
Materials are included for mechanical components (rails, hardware, critter guard) and electrical components (wire, conduit, combiner boxes, disconnects, breaker switches).
Are my solar panels, inverter and battery covered under it?
No.
Core system components — solar panels, inverters, optimizers, energy monitors, EV chargers, heat pumps and battery/Powerwall — each carry their own manufacturer warranty, so the cost to replace them is not included.
The exception: if a core component is found to be defective within 45 days of warranty activation, Xolar will RMA the product to protect the integrity of the installation.
When would I still be billed for labour?
Labour is billed normally if no defect is found on a site visit, if the defect is caused by force majeure, if it relates to a product not covered under this warranty, or if it was caused by negligence on the part of the customer or a third party.
The warranty is also voided if the system is serviced, expanded, uninstalled, reinstalled or otherwise worked on by anyone other than Xolar Inc. or its agents, unless agreed in writing.
How do I make a warranty claim?
Email support@xolar.ca with a short description of the defect, any relevant images of it, and your proof of purchase and full contact information.
