Brantford's Largest System Sits in the Band Ontario Only Just Opened Up
One of the systems Xolar installed around Brantford is an 11.1 kW array, and it is worth pausing on. Until 1 May 2026, Ontario’s simpler micro-embedded connection stopped at 10 kW, and a system of 11.1 kW either went through the longer process for larger embedded generators or was derated so it would fit underneath. On that date the Ontario Energy Board raised the ceiling to 12 kW and said the change removes the need to derate. So a design that was awkward in Brantford last year is ordinary this year. At 1,160 kWh per kW, that band covers most Brantford bills without pushing into the paperwork above it.

If an installer’s savings estimate is materially higher than the figure on this page, it is worth asking whether the rebate was applied before or after — and whether the estimate assumed every generated kilowatt-hour displaces an on-peak one, which no real household achieves.
