Two costs are worth writing into your budget from the start. The service charge of $24.57 a month, about $295 a year, is payable however much you generate. And because Maritime Electric’s rate falls from 14.37 cents to 11.42 cents above 2,000 kWh in a billing period, a high-consumption household displaces the cheaper tier first — so savings estimates built on the headline rate will read high.

None of this argues against solar in Stratford. It argues for a quote built on today’s programmes rather than on one that ended.
